Designation began life on 1st June 1998, before the millennium bug and the dotcom crash, as a design agency. Today we're a brand consultancy, spanning both brand thinking and design delivery.

Why the change; what's the difference? Well, in a word, thinking! We've always been good at the pretty pictures.
But before you communicate you need to decide what you're trying to achieve. In today's world brand is everything. It's often, maybe even usually, the most valuable asset a small or medium business has. And yet it doesn't appear on the balance sheet! Maybe one day it will.

But what makes a strong brand? Well, a brand is not a logo™, it's more fundamental. At its heart it's simply an idea, albeit a big one! The big idea that sets you apart from your competitors. It's taken us ten years to mature to the point where we can offer this strategic consultancy. But it hasn't been time wasted: once you have your big idea, we're very practised at communicating it.
